EnviroServ Waste Management has assisted the Khulanathi Buy Back Centre in Port Elizabeth with equipment and funding to further the community based depot where waste collectors can sell recyclable waste such as paper, plastic, cans and glass to recycling companies.

The centre, located in Motherwell, focuses on transforming traditional waste collection and disposal towards waste minimisation and recycling, and was given a branded bakkie to collect and transport waste as well as a container for non-recyclable waste and a commercial scale to weigh waste. They also used a cash injection to buy a trailer and repair a wall.

“In line with government’s National Waste Management Strategy to promote waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and recovery of waste, EnviroServ is pleased to promote a clean and green environment for the community while helping another player in the waste industry,” said EnviroServ Community Liaison Officer Thembinkosi Mafana. The grant forms part of the company’s enterprise development programme.

Noziswe Dingaan of Khulanathi Buy Back Centre said the donation would help the business to grow.

An official handover took place on Monday, October 12 at Khulanathi Buy Back Centre in Motherwell.
