EnviroServ Pioneering Environmental Peace and a Greener Future

At the heart of EnviroServ’s operations is a commitment to sustainability, grounded in the principle that resources are finite and should be utilised prudently with an eye on long-term impacts. The company's sustainable practices are designed to foster ecological, human, and economic health.

EnviroServ’s team of experts is equipped to establish on-site recycling infrastructure, manage material collection and storage, and provide comprehensive off-site services, including monthly waste and recycling audits. Their approach ensures clients receive tailored advice on best practices for waste minimisation and recycling, supported by educational and awareness programmes.

At the client’s premises, waste is segregated into recyclable  and non-recyclable categories. In shopping centers and malls, EnviroServ provides on-site waste and recycling solutions where their staff manage waste segregation, ensuring high recovery rates and cost-efficiency. Clients can opt to sort recyclables themselves.

Institutions hosting events benefit from EnviroServ’s recycling programmes, which offer high recovery rates, significant cost savings, and favourable environmental outcomes.

Regional Manager: Inland Central and National Onsite, Ryan van Heerden, notes that just under 40% of the EnviroServ team focuses on initiatives that align with government waste diversion goals. The zero waste to landfill goal by 2030 is an ambitious one, to divert 90% of waste from landfills using a 'whole system' through recycling, reuse, recovery, beneficiation technologies, and towards value-adding opportunities which have the potential to create numerous environmental, social, and economic benefits for the future. van Heerden adds that EnviroServ is well on its way and that tons of waste which would have previously been landfilled is presently diverted elsewhere. He adds that the company collaborates with small businesses to explore alternative waste solutions such as composting, animal feed production, and others.

EnviroServ, leveraging its partnership with SUEZ, has expanded its services to include water and wastewater solutions, reinforcing its role as an environmental leader.

Fun facts on how EnviroServ is taking everyone on the green journey:

Within the communities around its integrated waste management facilities, EnviroServ supports local recycling efforts, exemplified by their contribution to the Motherwell Buyback Centre in Gqeberha, where they sponsored key equipment such as a vehicle, container for the community members to work from, scale, baling machine amongst others to enhance recycling capabilities, and in Western Cape where they encourage and support the recycling efforts of the Morning Star community.

Practical examples where we are advancing the vision of zero waste to landfill, include partnerships with small businesses, including farmers. Garden waste gets converted into much needed compost.

Interestingly, all of EnviroServ dedicate at least an hour a year to cleaning up. On the day, everyone leaves their workstations, put on gloves and cleanup near their area of work.

For customers, EnviroServ engages and tailors solutions to fit the customer’s pocket whilst empowering the customer on their journey to environmental stewardship.
